The centrepiece of the stunning diamond encrusted floral Williamson Brooch that inspired this piece is a rare pink diamond, said to be the finest in existence. The pink diamond - a 23.6 carat jewel from Tanzania was given to Princess Elizabeth uncut as a wedding present by Canadian geologist John Williamson in 1947. It was cut by Briefel and Lemer of London in 1948 and set in the centre of a new brooch designed by Frederick Mew of Cartier in 1952. The Queen wore the brooch to last year’s Royal Ascot.
