Posted on Tuesday, 29 January 2013 in Jewellery Trends

The platinum look is definitely a style you can get used to quickly and easily.

Platinum hairstyles are big trend this year. They’ve already made a few statements in the world of fashion, so all the better get going with a new platinum look.  If you have light coloured hair, then a platinum hairstyle will be in your favour. The great thing about platinum hairstyles is that you can wear gorgeous earrings to make you look like a celeb off the red carpet.

Just like gold eye shadow and glitter are huge trends at the moment, platinum is also trending and looks stunning with any eye colour. Platinum eye shadow works well if you have dark hair and cannot go platinum blonde, unless you don’t mind stripping your hair of its colour. The platinum eye shadow can illuminate your look.

Summer Cocktail Party Glamour

Posted on Friday, 17 August 2012 in Celeb Inspired Style

Cocktail parties are major social events and generally always good fun but nothing screams the opportunity for glitziness and glamour quite like a summer cocktail party. Whether it's the warmth of the sorely missed sunshine, the opportunity to shed bulky winter attire and slip into something a lot more comfortable, or the cheeky chance to flash some flesh, summer cocktail parties are the time to shine.

This posh affair calls for a glamorous outfit to suit the tenor of the event. The summer seasons' fashion mirrors the festive vibe in the British air, so follow the below tips to get in on this season's trends:

It's a '20's revival! Knee-length dresses with prominent square or sultry v-shaped necklines and a splash of sequins will epitomize this glamorous look. Add pearls like the Royal Choker to the décolletage and this trendy look is complete.

The high-low dress can appear coolly casual or can be dressed up with elegant jewellery like the Tru-Diamonds Queens Coronation Set earrings, the Impressive Emerald Cut trilogy ring and the Grand Premiere bangle to create a head-turning ensemble. Platinum jewellery will enhance a white dress while gold will complement black attire better.

Gold vs Platinum - When & How to wear it

Posted on Thursday, 05 July 2012 in Celeb Inspired Style

Do not fear the power of gold. Some women might be a little timorous when adding gold accessories to their wardrobe, feeling it too flashy, garish and quite simply only for the more mature lady. Au contraire! When it comes to livening up an outfit, gold jewellery is your key trimming – instantly enlivening an ensemble and adding a touch of impeccable style.

Gold

Keeping it simple is how to do it best if throwing caution to the wind is how you want to approach gold. A basic gold ring, small earrings or a dainty chain is a great way to start a lasting relationship with this dazzling metal. A simple outfit might require a bit more brilliance and a gold statement piece is just the thing to liven up a plain outfit.

If It’s Good enough for Elvis... Platinum

Posted on Wednesday, 02 May 2012 in Jewellery Trends

All Tru-DiamondsTM pieces are available in Platinum clad settings, so we’ve decided to have a look at the ‘little silver of the Pinto River’ to better understand one of the rarest elements found beneath the Earth’s crust. Platinum in its most raw state is found in the alluvial banks of some rivers, and also contains gold and other platinum group metals.

In the 1500’s Spanish conquistadors were unimpressed by their Platinum discoveries, and regarded it as an inferior metal – even naming it ‘platina’ or ‘little silver’. It was only in the 1700’s when alchemists began to see the use of the metal in changing lead into gold. In 1751 a Swedish scientist classified Platinum as a precious metal. Platinum is often chosen for its sophisticated appeal and popularity amongst the rich and famous. King Louis XV of France declared it ‘The only metal suitable for Kings’ in 1780 and in the early 1900’s Louis Cartier created the first Platinum jewellery.

Hollywood’s leading ladies boosted the profile of Platinum in the 1930’s when actresses such as Jean Harlow were often seen adorned in Platinum jewellery, and when hot stars like Elvis and Priscilla sported Platinum wedding rings in 1967.

Why should you wear platinum?

With only a few hundred tonnes of Platinum produced every year, metal is regarded as extremely coveted and very precious. It is especially tarnish resistant, which makes it a perfect medium to use in fine jewellery design. The metal is known to enhance the brilliance of diamonds, and is therefore widely used in engagement- and wedding rings. So if it’s good enough for world leaders and the ‘King’.... why not treat yourself with it?
